WHAT’S COOKING? ist ein als Serie konzipiertes Format und untersucht aktuelle Bedingungen für künstlerisches Arbeiten. Das 50-stündige Nonstop-Happening versammelt 12 künstlerische, aktivistische und theoretische Positionen, um simultan und kollaborativ zu produzieren, präsentieren, diskutieren und reflektieren, begleitet von einzelnen Beiträgen – den SIDE DISHES. WHAT’S COOKING? setzt Anfänge und hält die Türen für spontane Gäste fünfzig Stunden offen, um an den Um-Ordnungen zu partizipieren. Zentraler «Ansteckungsherd» ist die Kochstelle, die jeden Gast auch Wirt sein lässt: Kochen, Essen, Einmischen, Einmachen! Im Ausstellungsraum Klingental gelangen aktuelle Fragen nach künstlerischem Engagement in politischen und sozialen Kontexten unter das Brennglas, verschärft durch die Erfahrungen mit der Pandemie. (Can I work like this?) fragt nach dem Wie des Weiter.

WHAT’S COOKING? versteht das Unvorhersehbare und den Zufall als seine Bedingung. Von zentraler Bedeutung sind spontane Situationen, die einen vielstimmigen Diskurs unmittelbar initiieren.

WHAT’S COOKING? experimentiert mit alternativen kuratorischen Ordnungen und bricht durch Gesten der Überstürzung, Übertretung und Über­treibung einem andauernden und prozesshaften Um-ordnen die Bahn. «Um von einer Ordnung in die andere zu wechseln muss man durch die Unordnung. Es gibt keinen bruchlosen Übergang, sowie es keine reine Unordnung, kein Chaos an sich gibt.» (Marcus Steinweg)

WHAT’S COOKING? überführt unterschiedliche künstlerische Formate in multiperspektivische Kollaborations­prozesse.

WHAT’S COOKING? A re-arrangement | Eine Um-Ordnung (Can I work like this?) is a curatorial format conceived as a series that explores artists‘ working conditions. The 50-hour nonstop happening gathers 12 artistic, activist, and theoretical positions to simultaneously and collaboratively produce, present, discuss, and reflect, accompanied by scheduled contributions as SIDE DISHES. WHAT'S COOKING? creates various starting points and keeps the doors nonstop open for spontaneous guests for re-arranging. “Source of contagion” is the cooking area, which allows every guest to also be a host: Cooking, eating, intervening! In Ausstellungsraum Klingental, current questions about artistic engagement in political and social contexts come under the burning glass, tightened by the experience of the pandemic. (Can I work like this?) asks about how to continue.

WHAT’S COOKING? understands the unforeseeable and coincidence as its prerequisites. It is of vital importance to foster situations where concerted action initiates immediate discourse.

WHAT’S COOKING? is an experiment with alternative curatorial orders and breaks ground through the continuous formation of perpetual processes of re-arrangement fuelled by gestures of precipitancy, transgression, and exaggeration.

WHAT’S COOKING? transfers various artistic formats in multi-perspective processes of collaboration.
